Look who has started a blog!

Well, well! Look who has started a blog. MEEEE! I am pretty excited. And nervous. But I decided to just go for it! I have mastered my own way of being creative after 15 years of being a demonstrator, and I am excited to share it.

So, here goes. . . my first card in my first blog post.

I made this for a recent swap with my Stampin’ Up! Advisory Board sisters. They are the best stampers in the world, so the pressure was on! Here is my usual creative process:

Step 1: Stamps. I pull out one or two sets that are options for the project I’m working on. In this case, I knew I wanted to use my NEW FAVORITE stamp set, Lemon Zest.

Step 2: Layout. I usually pick a layout to copy. I had saved this layout from my friend Louise. She is a fellow demo and an Artisan Design Team member from Australia. This card was featured on the Stampin’ Up! Facebook page a few weeks ago. Be sure to check them out and follow!

Step 3: Colors. I look for color combos everywhere. This time I picked the new Stampin’ Up! Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper. The colors are: Basic Black, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party, Powder Pink, Soft Suede, Tangerine Tango, Tranquil Tide and Whisper White. I pulled out pieces of each of those colors of cardstock and laid them out on my table.

Step 4: Start playing! I didn’t end up using all the colors I pulled out (there were a ton!) and I didn’t use the designer paper I was thinking, either. I ended up pulling out the Coffee Break Designer Series Paper which had a simple Pear Pizzazz pattern I was looking for. I loved combining that color with the new Tranquil Tide! I would have never thought of that without the color combo inspiration.

Gotta love a good craftermath!

I also used the Classic Ink embossing technique on my orange slice. I’ll post a video tomorrow to show you how I did it!

Happy Stampin’!
