Mermaid Fun

Seriously, how could summer be almost over? I want more pool days and sunny rays over here. This Mermaid card reminds me of all those summer vibes and that’s why I wanted to share it today.

This mermaid card is actually a Book Binding Card! Have you seen that before? Using your Stampin’ Up! Paper Trimmer, Cut a Cardstock base to 11″ x 4 1/4″ and score at 4 1/4″ and at 5 1/2″. Fold the card in half then fold the front flap back again. Use some Stampin’ Seal+ to seal the card shut in the 1 1/4″ space by the main fold, and you have a book binding card! Decorate as desired.

Of course you need the adorable Pirates & Mermaids Stamp Set to make the adorable mermaid card. My friend Christine made this card, and she colored the mermaid with a few Stampin’ Blends markers and then used the Wink of Stella Glitter Pen on top. There are a few different dies used to complete the look!

I hope you all get at least one more trip to the pool/beach/ocean before mermaid season ends! Then, we can at least stamp pretty mermaids! Hope you enjoyed learning how to make a Book Binding card!

Fun Designer Paper Layout

For my recent trip to Maui, I made swap cards to trade with the other demonstrators. I love all the fun variety of cards I got! Here is the card I created:

This is an awesome layout because it is so simple! Here is how to do it:

  • Cut your card base to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″. (Mine is Basic Gray.)
  • Cut another layer the same color as your card base to 4″ x 5 1/4″. (Attach with dimensionals.)
  • Using any Designer Paper, cut three coordinating pieces to 3 3/4″ x 1 5/8″. Adhere using Seal+ across card front.
  • Embellish as desired!

I used the new Color & Contour bundle to cut a black scalloped label, and stamped/embossed one of the greetings in white powder. I finished with a twine bow and a few gems. Easy Peasy! Here are a few more views of the card:

Hope you enjoyed seeing my Maui card swap! Here is the supply list so you you can re-create it.
